I have learned many things from this class. I thought I knew some things about Dreamweaver MX, but once I started this class I found out I did not know much at all. Some of the things I have learned are... 1. Inserting images I now know how to take my pictures, put them into Photoshop, then add them to my website. I do need to work on my creative abilities if I am going to be successful at web designing. But this class has shown me that I am more creative than I realize. INSERTING IMAGES - TABLES- tables are one thing I have learned most about. I learned why it is good to use them, and how to create columns and spacing with them. I have learned that you can put an image in the table and add text and color and also frame the box. Using columns makes it cleaner for a designer and for viewing of the web site. There are buttons, images, text and many things you can put inside these columns. The nice thing about tables are you can group things and put borders around them and make your page look clean. ROLLOVERS- I did learn some about rollovers but have not done much with implementing it into my own web site itself. I did add one to a page and it looks nice but I will have to review in order to do this again. I think rollovers are nice and adds variety to your page. LINK MY SITE TO OTHER SITES- Adding a link to your web site is one of the most user friendly things you can add to your web site. I have learned how to add links, check your links and make overall adjustments to my links. I like the fact that on a web page if the creator is talking about something and you are interested in it, you can click on a link to take you there. This just makes your web pages more easy to navigate. Bookmark Case- I title this page "Flights for those in need". This was my first web page I created and I was able to use several features from Dreamweaver, like rollover and links. I chose this topic because someday I hope to be flying people in need to areas for medical treatment. I learned several things in creating this page, just the basics to start and then I learned how to add other details also. Dr. Randy Brooks was very helpful in working in this page and all my pages. Mayfly Magazine Poetry Page - To create these pages, I took information from different brochures and books to create a web advertisement for the Mayfly Magazine. (this time Dr. Brooks supplied the information). Creating this page taught me how to gather information from other locations and resources and put it together to advertise a product. This will be very useful if I ever want to help a client market their product. My Home Page - We created a home page to use to navigae to our other pages. Once I created this home page, I then I was able to create additional pages that all linked back to my home page. My pages were all about my family and each member had their own page. I learned a lot doing these pages, like linking and changing backgrouds. I worked a lot in Photoshop, editing, croping, and changing images. I also learned that some things look good on your page but it doesn't on the world wide web. Resume - This page was fun because I took a Word document and changed it to and html and pasted it into my page. Normally on this page you would have a link to go to a printable resume, but for this project I did not have to do this. But this feature will be very handy when you create web pages and need to have people be able to print of a readable document. One thing I did learn was, designing a web site was not always about how things looked on the page. Sometimes my page looked good in Dreamweaver but when I opened the sight it was really different. You have to watch what font you use or the size of some things. They sometimes look different on your page you are designing than they do on the world wide web. One thing you also need to consider, is how visually friendly or user friendly your sight it. As a web designer, we need to consider the users and how to make our site pleasing to them. This is something that is constant to consider. Users like to see consistency in our pages most of the time. In good design I also have to consider what my web sites will look like in different browsers. A consistant layout can help my web pages look good on all browsers. Overall, I am so glad I had the opportunity to take this class. I will be able to use this in my personal life and my professional life for a long time. I am looking forward to learning more about Photoshop and Flash. I know that with experience my design knowledge will grow and the possibilities are endless.
