Background

Dreamweaver MX, published by lynda.com/books - is the program we are using in our ED301 Class. I is a hands-on training to use HTML(hyper test markup language) an international standard for representing text in an electronic form that can be used for exchanging documents. Basically it is a complete web application development tool capable of developing advanced Web applications, e-commerence sites and much more. This book is so very user friendly that even beginners like me can use it.

Site Control

When you are developing a site, site management or site control is very important. Dreamweaver MX shows you how to keep your files all in one main local root folder. You will have a folder on your system that you should name something like "web page" and keep all your files and images for your web design in this folder. This file will be located on the right hand side of the document you are working it. Dreamweaver MX make is very easy to get to these files with out hunting through your whole computes. You can easily just click and draw an image onto your page.

Basics

Some of the basics that Dreamweaver MX lets you do is easily change your background by clicking on Modify/page properties/ and then you can change the background. You can also change you font color from there along with many other things like margins, colors of links or rollovers.. At the bottom of most pages that is another guide that helps you create other options like alignment or font size. Dreamweaver MX puts tabs on the top of pages to allow you to go from one page back to another page. Changing your text colors and your backgrounds allows you to make your web design more eye appealing.

Linking

I think linking is a key in web design. Dreamweaver MX makes very user friendly to create these links on your web pages. In the links box at the bottom of your page, you can either type in the link you want, say www.millikin.edu or you can drag it to another page or image located in your files to the right of where you are working. Anchors is another form of linking, Dreamweaver MX allows you to put an anchor next to a word and somewhere in you page you can easily go back to that anchor. Most of the time people add the word "top of page" at the bottom of their site and then add an anchor by something at the top and if you link these two together, you can move very quickly to the top of the page from the bottom. This is very handy on most web sites. Being able to navigate from one page to another without having to click on the back arrow is very user friendly.

Tables

Tables is a wonderful feature that allow you to keep your web design clean and crisp at times. Tables are most commonly used in financial or database spread sheets. But more recently, they have become a standard method used to position and anchor content to our web pages. You can easily add a table by clicking on "insert" at the top of your page and clicking on insert table. You can change the height, width, color, and location of these tables. Once you create a table and you need to change it, Dreamweaver MX has made it easy to do. You can go to Modify at the top of your page and click on modify tables and adjust in several areas. Once again, Dreamweaver MX has made this feature very user friendly.
